The Need for Speed Awareness! Vehicle Activated Speed Signs
17th September 2014
Vehicle-activated speed signs are an effective tool to modify driver behaviour, especially in influencing speed awareness in road users. With a wide range of LED traffic signs available, Messagemaker Displays is an ideal partner for keeping your local area safer.
Activated by internally-mounted approved radar systems, the signs provide immediate feedback to motorists about their speed. Signage in this range can display an array of messages depending on how you wish to show feedback to drivers. VAS signs will feature either a ‘SLOW DOWN” message to raise speed awareness, therefore prompting driver deceleration.
All our vehicle activated speed signs meet Highways Agency technical requirements. Furthermore, our team are equipped to programme the signage for your specific speed reduction needs. These signs utilise low powered LEDs, providing illumination while staying efficient. They are also fitted with automatic brightness control as standard, allowing for viewable displays in both daytime and night-time settings.
Vehicle activated speed signs options include:
- Speeds: 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60MPH (KPH optional)
- Symbols / Warnings: Crossroads, curve, queue, or custom message
- Sizes & Shapes: 300mm, 450mm, 600mm roundels, or 450mm, 600mm, 750mm, 900mm, 1200mm triangles with symbol
- Standard Dimensions: From 500w x 500h up to 1380w x 1420h
These units feature a heavy duty enclosure to house the LED components, maximising durability and longevity. Messagemaker Displays VAS signs also utilise a inclusive self-test function, allowing for easier maintenance and repairs. VAS units can be mounted on freestanding posts or on street light columns and are compatible with an array of power options. These power options are as follows; mains power, battery power (up to 2 batteries) or solar power.
