Affinity Water Case Study with Messagemaker Displays
Affinity Water got in touch with Messagemaker Displays when they were looking for speed signs similar to one they previously had installed to put their head office car park. Speeding around the large car park has been reported. Affinity Water wanted to quickly and efficiently address the issue before it became a problem. The car park itself has 385 spaces with an average building capacity of 285 per day, so keeping it safe is imperative.
Affinity Water had previously used a Vehicle Activated Signage however had noticed that they were having a major increase in speeding around the car park by employees and customers once that sign had stopped working. So, they wanted to implement a new LED speed sign. The staff were feeling nervous about a possible accident that could happen in the car park.
When discussing with Messagemaker Displays possible ways in which to reduce speeding, the Smiley Activated Message (SAM) with a solar-powered option was picked. The SAM shows a ‘green happy face’ when not speeding and a ‘red sad face’ when speeding, so the visual feedback is something that both parties believed would work well in this application. The speed sign was set with a 10mph limit, so the sad red face showed up to those traveling over. Within 2 weeks, the VAS had arrived and installed in the car park.
“Working with Affinity Water was a lovely experience. Anna was a perfect point of contact for the business, and we were able to make a sometimes-drawn-out process flow smoothly.”
“I’m glad to have helped Affinity with addressing their speeding issue, especially during Speed Awareness Week. They have seen improvements to driver behaviour already.”
Harrison Saker, Account Manager
The Smiley Activated Message Speed Sign was the perfect outcome and sends a ‘Softer’ message which provides visual feedback to the motorists. It has improved with staff believing the speeding has reduced and they are more confident that an accident won’t occur as a result.
