Viewing angle is the term used for a display technology
to refer to the angle at which brightness or contrast drops
below 50% of the maximum. For all display technologies the
best viewing angle is face on.
INDOORS:For indoor LED's we normally quote a viewing angle
of 160 degrees - to all intents and purposes you can read
them from any angle you can read the text from.
OUTDOORS:Outdoor, standard LED's are 30 degree ltrabright.
The light is focused into a targeted zone to increase the
brightness to a level that allows good legibility &
contrast.
In bright daylight the display viewing angle is therefore
30 degrees. But as ambient light levels decrease the viewing
angle increases until at night-time it matches that of indoor
LED's.
Our larger text displays use Hyperdot LED's with a 70 degree
viewing angle. This is vastly superior at only a modest
cost increase and allows over 3 times greater viewing audience,
or in a parallel drive-by situation 3 x more time for reading.
